Gyubang (규방) means “boudoir” in Korean and was the exclusive space for women during the Joseon dynasty (1392-1897). In Gyubang, women engaged in activities such as making clothes and creating decorative items from leftover fabrics. This allowed women to express their creativity, share stories, and ultimately shape their own artistic and cultural identities. Gyubang Arts played a central role in the daily lives of women in Korean society.
